Last post, I talked about the Boosted Board which is a motorized longboard that can reach speeds of up to 22 mph. After doing some more research, I found another motorized longboard that can definitely compete with the high performance level of the Boosted Board. The Inboard M1. The Inboard M1 motorized longboard features innovative technology in terms of the motor. The motor, using new technology Inboard refers to as Manta Drive, is completely integrated in the two back wheels of the board giving the M1 a sleek, minimalist design. In terms of specs, the M1 actually outperforms the Boosted Board in many areas. For example, the M1 has a 10 mile range battery while the Boosted Board can average around 6-7 miles per charge. Another example is the M1 has a top speed of 24 mph while the Boosted Board barely drags behind at 22 mph. However, the Inboard M1's best feature is, without a doubt, the fact that the board is completely water resistant. This is a big deal because I live in Michigan where the weather is unpredictable and the ground is always wet. The only thing preventing the board from being 100% water proof is the bearings on the wheels of the board. Fortunately, the bearings are normal skate bearings and can be taken off, cleaned, and replaced. After doing a lot of research, I have come to the conclusion that the Inboard M1 is a more practical and ideal board for me because I live in Michigan. The water resistant feature will definitely come in handy. Overall, it was very fun learning about another motorized longboard and the Inboard M1 is a definitely a serious competitor with the Boosted Board, and practical option for short distance transportation.
