People always tell me driving in the winter is the hardest season for driving. Unfortunately, being a November birthday, winter was the first season I would have to encounter when driving alone. The first snowfall of the year was definitely the most stressful day I have ever had from a driving standpoint. The roads seemed as if they are pure ice and my car as if it were ice skates. Every time I turned and every time I braked, my car would slide a little further than it would have if the roads were clear. Being a new driver, this was scary because I had gotten my car only a couple weeks prior and crashing it this early would not be good at all! However, leaving school after the day ended was by far the most stressful part of the day. So many cars leaving at the same time cause anxiety for me and getting out of the parking lot was a true hassle. However, once I got onto Jolly Road, I felt secure because at that point in the day, some of the snow had melted and tracks had been formed in the lanes from previous cars. Although I made it through the day accident-free, I still consider the first snowfall of the season the most stressful day of driving I have ever experienced. Overall, I learned a lot (i.e. driving slower than you think) and will use the newly acquired knowledge in the future when it is needed. Do you have any scary and stressful car related experiences? Also, although an exaggerated photo, my feelings and thoughts on that day of driving was similar to that of the man in the picture below.
